LCV Chairperson reshuffles Executive


The LCV Chairperson Hon. Okumu Robert has reshuffled his executive in a move that saw the Vice Chairperson Hon Kisa Lawrence Ojok replaced by Hon Iddu Obedgiu the former Secretary for Social Services. Hon. Iddu has been replaced by Hon Anyolitho Raphael as the secretary for Social Services. Hon. Anyolitho who was approved by council on 27th August before his appointment as a Secretary was the Chairperson for Gender, Community Based and Social Service Committee. He is a councilor representing Erussi Sub County.

Nebbi hospital launches know your child status



Nebbi hospital has launched know your child HIV status (KYCS) and will run as one of the routine services at the hospital. The exercise that started on August 12, 2013, before the launch on August 16, 2013 saw a total of 4107 children tested of which seven (7) were found to HIV positive.
Speaking at the function, the District Health Officer Dr. Jakor Oryema decried the low numbers of children accessing HIV/AIDS service in the district. He observed that most parents gauge their children’s status by their own. “The chances are that the parent may be positive and the child is negative, therefore sometime should be done as early after birth to better the chances of survival of the child”. Jakor urged all parents to ensure that their children are test before their first birth day. He said this would increase the chance of survival for the children who are born positive.
The LCV Chairperson Hon Okumu Robert commended SUSTAIN for supporting the progamme and advised parents to honor the rights of children by ensuring that they have access to health care, education, food and shelter. He observed many parents instead of upholding the rights of children have turned to be the abuser. He also urged people to adopt early medical seeking behaviors to avoid complication. He noted that many seek medical attention when the situation is out of hand which makes it difficult for medical workers.

RDC calls for financial discipline


Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Namagogwe Hajara has asked civil servants to exhibit high level of integrity and financial discipline in implementation of government programmes. Speaking at the mid term review of the district five years development plan, she told technocrats to avoid conflict of interest and implement activities as planned. She advised the staff to be patriotic and always give accountability to the people they serve. Okumu Robert, the LCV Chairperson commended USAID GAPP for supporting the district to review the plan and urged development partners in the district to avail their plans to avoid duplication of services.
