Bishop gives Nebbi district a pastoral courtesy call

The Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese Rt. Reverend Linus Santos Wanok has given the district a pastoral courtesy call with a call on the district to serve the people so as to build the image of God. In his remark where he cited (John 10:10) he called on the district leadership to be committed to serving the people in the district so that they may live life to the fullest. He asked the staff to embrace love, mercy and wisdom. He advised them to always have proper plans for the people they service. He also called for partnership between the church and the government.
The bishop further pledged the church’s commitment in support of district. He said that “if the district is developed then the church is also developed’’
The Deputy RDC Namagogwe Hajara observed that the NRM government recognizes the role of the church in creating peace and reconciliation among the people. She observed that the government has succeed in the fight against LRA but the current war remains on poverty and moral decay, which she asked the church to support the government in the fight against the vice. She also asked religious leaders to help explain properly to followers such parables in the bible which says that the king of heaven is for poor, which said she noted as misguiding to some followers.
Okumu Robert the LCV Chairperson commended the district staff for their effort and said that the district was committed to deliver services for the people it serves. He asked the church to help the district on the issue of land grabbing and idlers. He noted that many youths have shunned work and resorted to urban centers.

Twelve motorcycles given to NAADS sub county Coordinators


Twelve motorcycles have been given to 12 sub counties for NAADS extensions services. The motorcycles that were given to the district by NAADS Secretariat were handed over to sub county NAADS coordinators at the district headquarter at function that was presided over by the Bishop of Nebbi catholic diocese, Rt. Reverend father Linus Santos Wanok.
While marking his remarks at the occasion, the LCV Chairperson Okumu Robert cautioned the users to ride carefully to avoid accidents. He also warned against the misuse of bikes for personal gains other than the official purpose. Okumu called on the sub county coordinators to ensure that all the farmers in their jurisdictions are reached. The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Tivu Mark said that any motorcycle that will be found to be misused will be withdrawn.
During the occasion, the district also gave out 12 ox-ploughs to farmer in 12 sub counties which excluded Erussi and Ndhew. According the District NAADS Coordinator, Piwa Joyce, the two sub counties left out because of their hilly landscape.

District donates bicycles for FAL instructors in Jonam


The District leadership has handed over 41 bicycles to lower local governments for Functional Adult Literacy (FAL) instructors in Jonam County. According to the District Community Development Officer (DCDO) Amule Julius, the bicycles are intended to motivate the instructors to improve on the enrolment of FAL learns in Jonam.  Amule observed that Jonam County has the least enrolment in the district.
He noted eight of the bicycles had been allocated to Panyango, seven each for Wadelai and Pakwach Sub County. He said that seven will go to Alwi sub county, wile Pakwach and Panyimur  will each get six.
The LCV Chairperson Okumu Robert urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the bicycles to improve on the performance and enrollment of FAL learners.
